A pure DC heat pump can be powered by mains power, solar, wind, generator, or any combination thereof — at the same time. Multiple units can be wired in parallel to the same source of low voltage power — which can be as simple as 2 car batteries. It powers down if the voltage gets low, and once the battery is sufficiently recharged, it can pick up right where it left off.

Pure DC air conditioners wire directly to your DC battery bank / charge controller and do not need an inverter.
  2. Supreme efficiency - by combining the pure DC power that solar panels provide with pure DC motors, the real world efficiency improvement is often 200% over using a regular 110V or 220V AC air conditioner.
