Running real, high power air conditioning is simple and possible with solar air conditioners.
Enter your size, insulation level, and hours of operation. Our Calculator will show you how many panels and how much battery you need.
Our systems are grid-free, run up to 24/7, and simple to install & understand.
Q: Can you run your air conditioners from the grid?
A: Yes. It is easy to mix and match different sources of power to run our units.
Pure DC air conditioners take direct current. Direct current can be supplied by what's called a "switching power supply", a battery charger (with a small battery), or by an "inverter charger".
All those types of transformers can take 110V or 220V AC Grid Power and turn it into 24V or 48V DC — which runs our units.
Q: Why does your calculator say I need so much compared to someone who offers kits that are way cheaper?
A: We solve problems. If we sell you a discount system that doesn't work as you expect, it would be a disaster, as you're still spending a lot of money investing in your energy independence. So our solar calculator is based upon real world results as we ourselves use the same equipment and have real world experience of what it takes to live with light, heating and cooling, in comfort, without a grid. And we want to share that experience with you.
Q: Why do I need to buy a battery to run your air conditioner? What if I don't want a battery?
A: You can run our units from the grid by connecting them to a power supply and not use a battery. You need a 50 Amp 48V DC switching power supply to run our 3 ton unit, for example.
But if you use solar panels, you should have a battery for your panels. Sunlight changes all the time. Panels 'catch' it, but like picking berries in a forest, they need a bucket to put your solar harvest into.
Without at least a small buffer battery, you would have to get more panels than necessary to run the AC when you actually need it!
This is the reason why we don't sell hybrid mini splits and hybrid air conditioners.
Q: Why don't you sell Hybrid air conditioners?
A: A hybrid AC is an AC that has more holes to stick electricity into. Dangerous, high voltage actually.
You hook up both the solar panels and the 110V AC grid power to the air conditioner. So you have a device that has two different voltages which means they get connected to two different electrical circuits that have to be kept away from each other.
They use higher voltages, the motors operate at around 300 volts or above.
The moment a heavy cloud goes obscures the sun, the unit is fully dependent on grid power.
For a hybrid mini split to run all day using only sun power, you need to use a solar panel array that is much larger than the amount of panels you would need in a Pure DC system that utilizes a battery.
By comparison, our units use only 24V or 48V as the highest voltage, making them dramatically safer by design.
Q: What is the warranty on your units?
A: We back our products with a 3 year warranty, but in reality, we expect your equipment to work for the next 30 years before needing upgrades. You will always need power for your living, so we take quality seriously and ensure we only sell products that are simple, robust, and reliable. This makes it easier for us as it means we get less calls with problems. And it helps you because you get free air conditioning for life which is pretty neat if you think about how much money that saves you every month even if you don't have another reason to go Full Battery.
But it's more important what we do than what we write here. What we do is pick up the phone, answer chats, help HVAC guys wire up our systems, troubleshoot if needed, get replacement parts to you from the factory within 1-2 weeks worst case scenario. We have lifetime product support for all products we sell, which means we are here to help you realize your personal energy independence.
Q: I want to go Full on solar air conditioning in comfort. How much will it all cost? Who will install it?
A: We built our solar air conditioning calculator (top of page) just for that. We can help you install or you can hire a local HVAC guy to come out and install it like any regular mini split. Our window and portable units are plug-and-play and are ready to use out of the box, just connect the red and black wires to power.
